Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Weed eater I have ever owned or used I highly recommend the Stihl FS110R, I have two of them and I have never had any trouble with either one, even after setting all winter. Always start 1st or 2nd pull, run them for several hours per week during mowing season, I have a brush cutter saw on one and a regular string trimmer on the other. I found out about Stihl over a decade ago when I worked for a large city's Parks and Recreation Department. They own several hundred weed eaters, chainsaws and backpack leaf blowers and most of them are Stihl, seldom do they need service or repairs. If you do need service they have a great dealer support network. May 9, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hands Down, THE BEST trimmer ever!!! This trimmer surpasses the competition! Fires up every time, the FIRST pull! Its got plenty of horsepower to even get through the thickest grass and even blackberry vines! Its very conservative on fuel and I can get 3/4 acres done on one tank. "thick brush" too. Thank you Stihl!!! Mike C. Southern Oregon May 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top-notch performance, consider the Kombi version of this product, too It's March 4th, but I'm already looking forward to spring when I can take my FS110R trimmer out of the garage and get to work on our property. This will be my 6th year using this trimmer and it still runs just as good as the day I brought it home. Every winter I store it with a full tank of fuel/oil mix treated with stabilizer (marine quality, to handle the ethanol in fuel), and every year when I pull it out, it roars to life on the second pull. Very, very reliable machine, and cuts down everything it comes up against, provided you're using strong enough line/nylon blades/etc.. It's expensive, but when you consider the fact that you'll go years (and years!) between trips to the repair shop for maintenance, and when you consider the fact that some cheaper brands only last a few years at all, this is the more economical device in the long run. It's even made in the USA! It's also much quieter than comparable trimmers. Not sure why, but I believe it has to do with the 4-cycle motor. You still use the 50:1 mix, but it's quieter, and has much more power in the lower throttles than other units I've used. I have *no* complaints whatsoever about this unit; it's done everything I've asked of it and I'm looking forward to more years of similarly outstanding service. I use the 25-2 tap and feed line head that came with it, and have also used the nylon blade head for taller/thicker grasses. As for gearbox attachments, I have the tiller head and have had much success with it, although using the tiller does burn through the fuel faster than simply trimming does. In retrospect, if I were going out to buy a new trimmer today, if I had known that I would want to use it for tilling at the time I purchased it, I would have purchased the Kombi-system version of this trimmer, or perhaps even gone up to the K-130 for even more power. It would have made switching between trimming and tilling a bit easier, and I would have then had access to some helpful alternative attachments (especially the blower!). So...if you just want a trimmer for trimming, the FS 110 R is for you, but if you want to use it for other things, spend a bit more for the equivalent Kombi-system version. All that said, I'm completely satisfied with this trimmer. No complaints. If you can afford it you will not regret it. It's superb! March 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good longevity, good power Quite happy with my FS110R. I have an organic avocado grove and replaced an older "big box store" trimmer that died with this unit- couldn't be happier. Lighter, more powerful, and so far it has held up to 8 months of 3-4 day a week use for at least 2 tanks a day. I was so impressed, when it came time to replace my husky limbing saw, I tried a Stihl and switched there too. Stihl is really winning me over. I wish they made dirt bikes :) December 28, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Out standing overall!!! I was a bit concerned when I bought this machine about paying too much for too little. After 5 years of steady use on a farm my fears have proven to be unwarranted. The machine can get a little heavy after a hour or so of steady use, but the operator needs a break by then to hydrate so it is a good reminder. The torque for this machine is just silly. I am running 1/4" professional trimmer line and I lave approximately 6-8 inches on either side of the head. The machine spools up and handles everything from swamp grass to 3/8" saplings without batting a eye. Overall I love this machine and would recommend it to the most demanding consumer/ operator.
