Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Power and torque curve Been using the KM130r for about 3 weeks now and just about done breaking the motor in and the power keeps getting better and better as the rings are getting seated. i have the straight edger, straight trimmer, and pick tine cultivator. None of these have even come close to bogging the motor down from idle to the rev limiter. The edger was set on the deepest setting and i was able to hold it with one hand and walk at a steady pace around 700 feet of sidewalk and curb and it ran right down to depth and made an awesome cut. It is very comfortable to use and wouldent say it was heavy by any means. Not to mention the sound of the 4 mix motor is awesome. I would say with 100% confidence that you will be happy with this unit. May 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Power!! More than enough power to do any task. I also own a Ry**i multitool / combo set up and have had nothing but problems from recoil issues, hard starting, and very cold blooded. The KM130 was a welcome addition to my tool collection, I wish I would have spent the money on the Stihl before purchasing the other name brand first. I purchased the Rubber Sweep with the KM130 and that is probably the hardest piece of equipment the KM130 can run and it has more than enough power to handle the sweeper. May 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Extremely Powerful, heavy. I will update this review as time goes on, but I just bought the KM 130 R and have not even used it for a real job yet, but only tried edging my driveway with it real quick, and I was stunned. I was using a KM 55 RC but it is too small for what I need and was just stolen, and since I work for a bunch of people I needed another one immediately, so I already bought this. I have quite a few jobs today so I will let you know what I think by the end of the day, but I love power, and that's what this has. And come on, how can I be worried about reliability, it's a Stihl!! One con that will probably prove to be a problem with use is that it is significantly and noticeably heavier than my previous model, so I guess it's as simple as saying that I'm going to have to man up a little. :) May 9, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by A Beast Weighing only a couple of ounces more than the KM 90 R, but packing an additional 40% more torque, the KM 130 R has the power to tackle your yard maintenance tasks. I purchased the KM 90 R initially, but found it inadequate to power the FBD - KM bed re-definer. My dealer worked with me to replace with the KM 130 R, effectively solving the problem. For what it was intended, the KM 130 R provides the serious home owner a versatile yet powerful alternative to maintaining multiple power supplies. For lighter tasks such as edging, the added torque ensures that you can keep an even speed, even through overgrowth. Footnote: I will add that any of the KM power heads, especially in combination with an accessory such as the bed re-definer, can make the user arm weary. I recommend using Stihl's double shoulder harness. The shoulder harness is inexpensive and works extremely well to balance the KM 130R and it's accessory, taking the weight off your hands, and allowing you to better control the tool. April 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent, reliable and powerful tool I bought this unit to start with by adding the pole pruner attachment. I also bought the extension to go with it. The motor starts every time, has plenty of power, no trouble whatsoever. I plan to get the blower and weedeater, and hedgetrimmer attachments eventually but this is a great all around versatile tool to have for the yard. I bought the case of Stihl oil so I got the double warranty as well. The guys at my local dealer were very patient and helpful answering my questions and helping choose this item. I bought this instead of the dedicated pole pruner only because there is only about 18 inches shorter with the extension installed and I am able to add the other attachments as needed. I would definitely recommend this product and the Stihl line all together. April 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sweet power. Starts first time, every time and idles flawlessly Got really lucky on the KM 130 R. Recently bought the house we had been leasing for 5 years where the owner hired the yard work out. Went to the local dealer with my wife to get either the 90 or the 110. My wife asked me why I don't just get the biggest one because it didn't cost much more. I almost busted a hip when I fainted and hit the floor! The machine has been flawless in every respect. Way more power than I need on my 8000 sq ft corner lot but I sure enjoy do enjoy the machine. I currenly have the straight shaft edger, thestraight shaft trimmer and the blower. Looking to pick up the kultivator and the Bed edge conditioner this spring. Like all Stihl products I own I feel they are lifetime purchases. April 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesom power would but another one anytime I've had my km 130 for about a year I was drawn to it by the multiple attachments I was in need of a new trimmer and I've had to borrow a pole saw several times so I decided to solve both my problems. I was at first turned off by the four mix engine design. I wanted the old two cycle because I've always had large saws and thought two cycle would have more power but don't let anyone tell you otherwise the power is awesom I wouldn't trade it now for a dozen two cycle trimmers extremely great job stihl. Just like all me stihl saws 460's and 440's it cranks easily and cuts with ease. This newer style four cycle engine doesn't require to be revved high to have power it can cut any grass at half throttle and powers through limbs with ease using the pole saw attachment. Anyone looking for an awesome trimmer this is it. Oh I do have one downfall of it you better wear thick pants because anything it comes in contact with its going to throw it but this is a good bad thing March 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Made the Upgrade I have had the KM 55 for a few years now. I wanted to make this upgrade for awhile now to the 130. It has the power I have been looking for. The chainsaw attachment is great with this. To me it is worth the money if you want to use a lot of the attachments available for this system. The ability to have so many tools in one is great.
