Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Saw I bought this saw after reading many reviews on the internet and talking to alot of different people. It has very good power and cuts better than any saw I have ever owned or used. The large chain makes quick work of larger trees and will even rip cut when necessary to split extremely large pieces in halves or quarters. I highly recommend this saw to anyone who cuts alot of wood. October 22, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Saw I needed something bigger then the Farm Boss and this works great. It's plenty powerful and works great for everything I use it for. Great for dropping trees and cutting fire wood. April 4, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Brand New MS311 Chainsaw HARD To Start, Carb Leaking!!! Floods out WAY too Easy!! Never use the Full Choke or it Won't start for an Hour... When it Floods out it fills up the Muffler with Gas & Leaks out onto the Head. Carb issues.... March 27, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great All Around Machine Figured I'd wait until I owned it for a year to review it. I've not had any issues whatsoever with this chainsaw. It is definitely a workhorse and has been very dependable. Starting it is a breeze even without the decompression knob pressed. Recently, it had sat for about three to four months un-used and started on the fourth pull. If you don't pay attention to it, I can see some people pulling forever while the choke is in the starting position but usually after two pulls it turns over. Plenty of power for anything I've found up to an 18 inch cedar (because that's the biggest I've cut thus far). I'd buy another in a heartbeat. March 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing and Outstanding Saw This saw is amazing for the balance and cutting capability and ease of use. The fuel and oil caps are easy to use even with gloves on in my opinion. The cutting is speedy and the cuts are straight (unless I hand sharpened chain improperly). It is just a bit heavy for me but I have a weak back at this time so, without that issue, I would love it and that is not the fault of Stihl but my fault. I actually love using this saw. I cannot use it for limb trimming above my waist for long due to the weight but that is a given. It runs for a long time before refueling is required. It's price is about 15% too high in my opinion but I still bought it. The other thing that is icing on the cake for me is the decompression valve for easy pull starting. I really need this feature on a saw and will never buy another one without it as far as I know. The trigger lock for starting did not work after 1 months owning it and that is really disappointing. Although that feature is not a show stopper I was not happy with this not working. I will call and get it serviced soon. March 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stihl Going Strong!! I purchased my MS310 (now 311) ten years ago to cut my own firewood for heat. She has been dropped & pinched numerous times and still runs great. The only issue I had was a cracked fuel line due to ethanol gas.I primarily run a 20" 3/8-.050 bar & chain, but I have run a 25" combo on several occasions. Once the tree is down, I often use this same saw to limb it. It has great power and is still fairly light. If you want to buy ONE saw that does it all, then the MS311 is a great choice, in my opinion. Rated 4 out of 5 by Ms311 good work saw but not great This saw has power if you are coming from smaller home owner saws. After using a 361-362& husky 562xp I feel the 311 is on the heavy side to power to weight ratio the floppy caps make it difficult to keep debris out of tanks, and difficult to seat with cow hide leather work gloves. The bar adjustment nuts are a blessing I hate that tooless chain adjuster. The feel is strong the weight is manageable even for older gentleman. The power is there but still seems like the EPA choked it up a bit feels like there should be a little better power and better throttle response compared to pro rated saws, and weight, but ive been spoiled. There should be a magnesium crank case in a farm and ranch saw on the larger cc models but that's just my opinion. Overall decent saw will definitely work well for most medium to semi heavy duty jobs. Good build good power, ergonomics stihl needs needs better caps. Reliability is there, and great saw for all around jobs. Will definitely be keeping it. February 28, 2016
