Rated 2 out of 5 by Maybe I just got a lemon? Only have used this saw 3 times. Hard to start, oiler stopped working. Everything worked great the first time I used it, then for some reason the whole thing got extremely hot and melted part of the oiler. Going to take it and get it serviced. November 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by An excellent saw with plenty of power. Nothing but praise for this saw. More power and cutting capabilities than I will ever need. Should have bought this 30 years ago! November 8, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by My companies work horse I own APS Tree Service in Flagler County Florida. I only use Stihl products and I stand by them. This saw the MS271 is my go to saw. I have a 20" bar on it and we run it for hours everyday. It has never let me down and has plenty of power to fall and limb trees. I own many Stihl saws of various sizes but again this is my main worker. I would recommend this saw to anyone who needs a real chain saw. October 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by First time chainsaw owner Have been using my uncles chainsaws for whatever I need but thought is was time to buy my own. I was worried about power and easiness to start. My uncles had different brands and only one had a Stihl. That one outlasted everyone else's chainsaws. While my other uncles were out buying they're 3rd chainsaw the stihl was still running strong. I bought it from a tractor store and they showed me how to work it and what not to do. When I got home I started cutting. It didn't give me not one problem and cut like a knife through butter. It is heavy but the vibration control does not tire out your hand. October 13, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Haven't had saw long but not a good first run Ran the saw through first tank of gas. When I filled it back up I wanted to tighten the chain. The nut was so tight I was afraid I would break it so I took it back to the dealer. I was told the mechanic had to break the nut loose with a hammer and a block of wood. I was told not to tighten that nut so tight but that was the first time I was going to adjust it. When I pick the saw up I hope I have better luck with it October 8, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by tougher than you can imagine After having owned this saw for a little over 3 mos. I couldn't say much more on top of what has been said in these reviews. Until Today. As a result of the Mid Atlantic storm this weekend I lost a good portion of a Bradford Pear. This morning after sawing it up and loading it on a dump truck I used the saw to trim away branches in the bed of truck to free up the roll up bed tarp. After trimming I placed the saw on the cab of the truck. And then of course I drove of with it on top. Five miles later I heard the saw slide across the cab roof. I was on the James River Bridge in VA posted speed 55 MPH. Had to cross the 4 mile bridge make a return trip and come back across. Saw was laying on the road edge. Hitting flashers, I jumped from the truck picked up saw and tossed it in the back. Upon reaching my destination. I pulled saw from the bed of truck . Only seeing scuff marks with no cracking of body or bending of bar. Placed the choke and pulled. STIHL RUNS LIKE A CHAMP! After sailing off a cab 8 feet high and hitting a concrete road bed at 55 MPH! with nothing more than scuffing?? ..BUY this saw! October 6, 2015
