Rated 5 out of 5 by almost went the distance I bought this chainsaw to finish a logcabin we are building. After purchase I took this chainsaw straight out to the job site. Its a lightweight yet powerful tool. This tool did all I asked of it, cutting through log after log, and notches. But a couple of days before we finished the bar and chain reservoir started leaking and so it was put aside. We finished up the logcabin walls with a cousins bigger Stihl MS 391 I believe. It ran for a full month with proper maintenance and chainsaw chain sharpening before the leak. I am happy with tool and am currently having warranty service done on it. I will continue to use this chainsaw for years to come. August 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by More than enough! More than enough to get normal firewood, clean-up etc. done. No issues with saw whatsoever. Light for the power you get in return. August 12, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by completely underpowered! Bought this saw while my other saw (Not a Stihl) was in the shop for a tune up not happy with this purchase! August 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by this would be a great choice I bought this chain saw and i'm so glad.It has not yet needed to be sharpened . I've cut many oak trees and nothing compares to it. my old competior saw i was sharpening the chain every 30 minutes.I LOVE THIS UNIT. July 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent homeowner saw I bought this saw to complete a fire mitigation project for our new Colorado home. It was flawless from day 1. I cut 1 1/2 rolloffs full of trees without a problem. I kept checking the chain for stretch and it stayed in spec. the entire time. The home is complete now and it's time for winter firewood. No worries! July 23, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Where's the Primer Bulb? I purchased the MS271 to replace an 032AV, some parts for which were no longer available from Stihl. Overall I like the 271, but it seems like it's down on power from the 032AV. That's a small price to pay for the savings in weight though. With the 032 my back would be talking to me long before I could get through a tank of fuel, but on the 271 a tank of fuel lasts just about as long as I want to cut. I always run the saw out of fuel when I'm done using it to save gumming up the carb if I don't use it for a while. My only complaint on the 271 is that without a primer bulb, it takes at least half a dozen pulls to get started on a fresh tank of fuel when the engine is cold. July 23, 2014
