Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent saw for a land owner with moderate to heavy demands I purchased the model MS 271 two years after I purchased the MS 250. I have been satisfied with the MS 250, but felt I needed a saw that could tackle more demanding jobs. The MS 271 seems to handle nearly anything I can throw at it. The reliability of both saws has been excellent. I look forward to many years of reliability and performance. There have been numerous reviews/complaints regarding difficulty in starting a Stihl chainsaw. I loaned my MS 250 to my father-in-law, he didn't follow my instructions and flooded it. Follow the starting suggestions made by Stihl and you should have no issues starting these saws. I anticipate my next Stihl purchase will be an entry level pro saw (MS 261). January 20, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great chainsaw that cost more than others. I gave a great review overall, Sthil makes the best products that are on the market today in my opinion. Of course if you want the best you are going to have to pay more for it. January 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect saw I traded in my MS250 for this and all I can say is this thing is awesome. My 250 would smoke and burn the bar where this thing slices right through. I didn't think I needed more power but I was wrong. Black locust is a challenge. I absolutely love this saw and cannot fathom how a higher model could be necessary unless you cut for a living. Rated 5 out of 5 by Power to spare Purchased this saw about 3 months ago to maintain 12+ acres with over 2 miles of overgrown fencing. This saw is a beast with the power to go through anything. I have dulled the chains rather quickly but the old fence line is the culprit. Would prefer a manual chain oiler and a primer to help get it going when cold. Otherwise, highly recommend this saw if you have anything beyond yard clean up. December 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very reliable You can learn a lot from that nice little book they send with this saw. Seen bad reviews because it wouldn't run in cold weather but there is a slide that you can turn around that let's hot air from the head into where the carberator sits to keep it from icing. But make sure to flip it back in the summer. The saw runs great happy that I picked this one. November 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by light and powerful I purchased mine with a 20" bar. Have used it for taking down a couple of trees, and general maintenance. Starts easy, light enough to use in the trees. I like the flip and turn caps on the gas and oil fills, I don't have to pull off my gloves. Might pick up a 16" bar for in the tree work. November 23, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Dependable so far. Only had a few months. The only issues I have with this saw is the oil cap and gas cap. I use a small brush to clean these areas regularly but even in doing so, I find there are still debris that gathers inside the tanks edges. I have a O28 that I purchased back in 1981 and still runs great but I never had the cap issues with it that I do with this new one. November 23, 2014
