Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding workmanship in a production saw. I've owned this chainsaw for about 5 - 6 years and have used in in many applications for sawing timber. Also use it to cut my fire wood. I give it a five on dependability. Dropped it once in a Louisiana swamp in about 18 inches of water. Took out the spark plug and pulled the starter several times. Put the plug back in and surprisingly it fired up as usual. I am planning to get another when it wears out. March 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by it cuts wood pretty well I use this saw commercially, and it has been thru a lot of wood in the last few years. It was causing fits and I had to have it repaired by a dealer. I could not even begin to figure it out! Not a "user servicable" machine beyond cleaning a plug or filters. When it is running right, it is amazing. Torque all over the place, starts easily, runs smooth. February 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well worth the money! I have had several Stihl saws now from small to medium in size. Finding that the 3 series were great but not quite gutsy enough when using the full length of the bar, I decided to go for the 441. I only wish I'd done it sooner. With both a 25" and 20" bar for it I find it will cope without any problems when using the full length of the bar to cut with. Some say it's heavy but I think for the engine size plus over 2 foot of bar and chain on top, it's pretty much what I've come to expect. Would recommend this saw primarily to other professionals and to skilled land owners with training. This is due to the amount of power it has which when transferred directly into a kickback could do some damage! Works great with my logosol saw mill too! Starts easily on the coldest of mornings and when correctly maintained, I'm sure will do so for many years to come. And always use Stihl 2-stroke oil fuel additive and Stihl chain oil! It's designed by Stihl for Stihl products people and has never let me down. My oldest saw is 7 years old and still works very well despite regular use. :) February 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by All around awesome saw. I bought this saw in 2012 to upgrade from my MS311 for bigger cutting needs. I have not been disappointed in the least bit. I run a 25" bar with no problem at all. I cut primarily Walnut, Oak, Beech, Hickory, Cherry and Ash. This saw has more than enough power and I'm sure it could run a 28" bar without issue. I bought a 20" bar for when I don't need the length and it turns this beast into a borderline hot-saw. This saw has seen 40 cords and is running just as well as the day I bought it. Maintain this saw and take care of it and it will take care of you. October 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best all-around I've had the pleasure of using every pro saw Stihl has except an 080-series. This saw has the best power-to-weight of the group. It doesn't hesitate to plow through log piles, Wisconsin hardwoods, or 5' trees at 11000'. Starts and runs well at 90 or -40. Excellent balance for its size. It's a bit heavy, but I'm also not a big guy. January 17, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Saw I run this saw with a 25 inch bar. I have ran it through big Oaks and it has plenty of power to get through in little time. This is my main saw I use for big trees. Very satisfied with my choice and happy I have it. January 12, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect all around saw I work at a tree service company in southern california that focusses primarily on large scale land clearing projects. We run a number of these saws, and many employees including myself prefer using them over our 660s for faling and bucking. They are lightweight and packed with power which is a conveniance when clearing trees on steep slopes, or in poor terrain. The saws are also very durable. One of them was run over by a skid steer, and another had a large log rolled on top of it. Both saw engines were fully functional after the incidents, although both suffered a lot of superficial damage and one neede its bar changed. This is the best medium size saw on the market.
