Great saw, starts up awesome, good power for around the yard applications
Followed the extended warranty plan with the HP Ultra fuel oil, check, use the Platinum bar oil, check, barely pulling on the pull cord to start the chainsaw while up a ladder in a tree,...priceless. Well enough power to cut anything I will ever see in our yard and the easy stop/start is a great safety feature, whether up a tree or down on the ground. Messed with the easy tension and chain adjustment, works great, looks super easy to change the bar or chain when the time comes. I'm digging my saw!

    Excellent little saw
I owned one of these saws for about 2 years. I used it as my lightweight saw in combo with a larger 60cc saw. Crazy easy to start and once the carb was adjusted (after a little break-in period) it had pretty decent power. Note: The 211 has an adjustable carb. I'll be buying one of the 211's again for sure.

Great power. Cuts quick and clean.
I bought this after getting fed up with the 20" 50cc Poulan I wish I never bought! The Stihl cuts fast and clean. I can't believe it is only out preforms my old 50cc. The easy2start and quick chain adjustment is amazing. Don't waste your money a on any other brand. P.S. We have a lot of dead Ash trees in my area and I've noticed all the pro companies taking down trees are using Stihl...go figure.

    This chain saw works GREAT!!
This is the 1st Stihl chain saw i've owned or used. It replaced an older chain saw of similar size. The 1st time I used it I was amazed at how fast it cut and the amount of "chips" that quickly covered my boots. I've cut down roughly 8-9 trees in my 1st year. It starts every time it is needed on the 3-4 pull. If the engine "pops", take it off choke and start it. Has plenty of power for the trees I have cut down, up to 18". The easy off gas and bar oil caps work well and don't leak. I only ... read more use Stihl gas and drain the tank when I'm done using it.

I have used lots of chains saws but not for serious work. I just bought a mountain home and needed to cut a lot of hardwood 12"-24 oaks and hickories. It is a tough pull in choke, but three pulls it starts every time. The first time I touched the blade to wood I knew it was a different animal. Small timber melts big logs cut steady. 30 trees into the project, a lifetime of firewood and it is still the best chain saw I have ever seen. It is painful to suggest weaknesses. I flat out will never buy ... read more another chain saw. It has paid for itself six fold. I mentioned the hard pull, the other thing is the oil tank cap should have a better alignment mark to close it. That's all

    Excellent Saw
The Stihl 251 Wood Boss is the first chainsaw I have purchased. I was set on a Stihl after using a Stihl 290 Farm Boss that my father in law has owned for years. You get what you pay for and the 251 delivers. I have only run two tanks through it during the break in period. So while only using half throttle, it has plenty of power. The vibration reducing system is great. 4 hours of cutting and no tingly hands. It also seems to sip fuel. Very happy with my purchase.

Tricks or hacks to get ur saw to peak performance quickly and easily
There is a break in time with any engine and with my saw it was about 5 hours total use.. If ur saw dies when u try to hit the throttle when u first get it set loosen the chain slightly let it run with the chain break on at half choke an extra 30 seconds or so por a few drops of oil along the chain at this point. Now try to run the saw run it for about 20 or 30 minutes at full throttle preferably through rounds of 12 to 14inches. Shut down let cool adjust chain run again for30 minutes doing this ... read more 5 to 10 times should break in the engine. For cutting through thicker harder stuff sharpen the chain at about 20 degree angle it makes for smother cutting easier cuts at the saw stays sharper longer... A 30 degree angle is great for stronger saws but it's just to great an angle for the power of this saw... I've used my saw to cut 36 inch maple rounds had to use a wedge to break the center 4 inches left. Happy cutting

    very tough saw
I just bought this saw and have used it to clear land. this saw is very dependable and very tough. I cut down a 2 foot willow tree and it fell on the chainsaw we took a skid steer and moved the tree and the saw was just fine I love this saw it is a little under powered so I recommend putting a 14 inch bar the 16 in is just a little under powered.

    Excellent starter saw
This saw is amazing. It's the first chainsaw I have purchased and have cut a full cord of wood with it already no problem. Easy to use chain tensioner, gas and oil caps and very easy to clean. A little loud but no complaints. I have cut trees up to almost 3 feet in diameter no problem. Of course, the bigger the diameter, the longer it will take to cut through. But for trees about a foot in diameter, this saw cuts through them like butter. Very easy to start. Uh don't know what else to say but I ... read more highly recommend this to any homeowner who owns alot of property with forest.

    Never failed
We used this saw along with my other two Stihl saws to clear trees for my new house. All oaks from 6" diameter on up. It has never missed a lick and from the three saws I have I seem to always reach for this one....great saw!

52 yo woman 21 acres with hedge tree surround, excellent saw!
As the title explains, I am a 52 yo woman and this is my first real chainsaw. I have old hedgerow surrounding my property (21 acres) and I have cut trees that are easily a 30 inch diameter on down to saplings. This saw has been wonderful, this is my second season with it. It starts easily and runs until my body says no more, today I cut for a solid 7 hours. . The chain has stretched so that I can't adjust the tension any tighter so I will be out to buy a new chain before I can continue my projects.

    Great tool
After the demonstration of how to start and use the saw, I expected some problems to pop up like all of the other saws that I have owned. I was very surprised at the ease of starting and using the chain saw. I have shown several others how easy and dependable the saw is. Well worth the money spent.

    A pretty good little saw!
For the price, this is a great saw. Don't expect crazy power from it. It does get the job done as long as you're not looking to buck 20+ in firewood. Runs great and is very reliable. I have owned it for 2 years now and have not done anything to it in the way of upgrades, just basic maintenance. Fires up on the 4th or 5th pull with zero issues. Will continue to take care of this thing and hope to keep it for years to come.

    Excellent Product
I got mine about 14 years or so ago. Have cut a BUNCH of wood during that time. Mostly orange and avocado. ..never a problem in that time. Mostly 5 to six pulls will fire it up from's a one pull deal when it's warm. I use the method recommended by my dealer. Not sure why all the crying about the starting procedure. ..I've actually had four of them working when I was in the firewood business. ..all were excellent and started reliably when using the proper method. Gave the rest away when ... read more I got out of the game to the guys who used them mostly. So this a more than a simple homeowners saw, in my opinion. Just a simple matter of maintaining them well and having the chains kept professionally sharpened. Bottom line...I can recommend this product with confidence...I expect mine to give me excellent service until I'm too old to fire it up anymore!

    Firewood cutting
Bought this saw in 2012 have used non stop for cutting firewood for winter which I use to heat my house. Cut 5 to 6 cords a year plus limbs of trees around house and on the farm. Very powerful and cuts well have used stihl chainsaws my whole life and their is no comparison for quality and dependability. Only one issue in four years gas cap broke off but oh well easy fix simple trip to dealer and back to cutting will be buying ms 170 to have a smaller spare.

    Awesome chainsaw for a homeowner!
This chainsaw has plenty of power! The ease of starting and the chain adjustment is superb! I've used other chainsaws in the past, Stihl included, and this 251 C-BE is the perfect saw for a 5'5", 170 lb female with basic chainsaw experience! And if ya add the 2-1 Filing tool, your chainsaw chain will last three times as long, if you sharpen a couple times during heavy use! Plus, the customer service at the Shelley, ID location is FANTASTIC! They know there products and if they don't know the ... read more answer, they will find out and get back with you in a very timely fashion!
