    good cutting
I bought thid for a extra saw because I'm 66 years old, and it's hard for me to handle a 20" bar saw or a 24" bar saw. this is perfect for weight and value.

    LIGHT AND VERY CAPABLE!
I now own 2 of these units, and I can tell you first hand, they are powerful little saws, and a insanely great price. Perfect for clean up jobs and I've even used them to cut down some pretty good size oak trees. Perfect all around saw. I HIGHLY RECOMMEMD THIS!

Good power for a light saw
Great light saw for the price . I do feel the 16" bar is a little much for the power but does give the saw a good balance feel . Purchased it to replace an old 015 with no av. Av on this model is spring mounted not rubber appears well built. Only short coming is the new 1/4 turn fuel and oil caps the theary is nice no screw driver needed but saw dust accumulates in groove around the cap and falls in tank when opened. My solution is, I keep a can of carb cleaner in my saw tool box a couple quick ... read more blasts and were good. Other than that first month started on 2-3 pulls now it takes sometimes 10 but better than the old 015 sometimes 30 pulls but for the price I don't think you can find a nicer saw.

    Great Chainsaw
Purchased this as I had a couple trees and many large branches to removed from my newly purchased property. I'm not a fan of the smell of gasoline or the idea of breathing the fumes in. The saw it had the power that I needed, no emissions, and is so quiet. The running time is perfect with the Stihl AP-180. Since you're never running the saw continuously, you can get hours wroth of work in. Stick it back on the charger every time you take a break and you're good to go all day. I'm looking ... read more forward to using it for future housework as well as making it a necessary addition to my overlanding toolkit.

This chain saw is perfect for homeowners!
This chain saw really impressed me. I had a 50 foot Ash Tree infested with the emerald ash borer so I had to take it down in my front yard. I would not use it if I cut trees down for a living but for the homeowner it is 'PERFECT" !! It cut through a 11" trunk in about a minute. Please note an ash tree is very hard wood ! You can't rush it, just hold it steady and it will confidently glide through a tree trunk. It's a little pricey, but not having the maintenance and operating costs of a gas and ... read more oil chain saw it is money well spent for the convenience and ease of use. If and when I ever wear this one out I am going to go buy another one just like it !

This is the chainsaw most homeowners need
No fuel to mix, no two cycle engine to maintain. This battery operated chainsaw is in a category by itself…the only battery operated chainsaw that works like a real chainsaw. Do not waste your time with something cheaper. You will be tired before the battery runs low and it charges quickly. The battery also works with other Stihl products.

    This is a great chainsaw
I like to spend more time cutting and less time pulling. This chainsaw is fantastic. I very rarely have to pull more than once. I use my saw to clear our local hiking trails of downed trees. This requires a lot of starting and stopping of the saw to maneuver around fallen debris. Because my old saw was so hard to start, I often would leave the saw running while I climbed over things and cleared branches. Not the best safety practice.

Ease of starting, good power for smaller saw
This saw is for home use for tree pruning, clearing, etc. Excellent weight for saw, starts easy, and runs very well. Anyone needing a good, all around 16" saw this is the one to consider. Price versus other brands is great.

Perfect For Smaller to Medium Jobs
I bought a new saw of another brand about the same size as this Stihl MS180 and was not happy right from the start. It seemed to me that by the time you got it started you were too tired to work. When I went to my Stihl dealer and told him what I wanted he showed me this one and told me all about it. I asked him to crank up the very one I would be taking home and he did. I was amazed at how you just had to give it a couple of tugs instead of yanking your arm out of joint. I've used the saw now a ... read more good bit and it is excellent. I rarely write a review about anything but this saw is worthy of the time. You can't go wrong with it.

    A SET UP.
The old STIHL dealer had me set up. He gave it one pull and the thing hesitated for a second and started. Wow I had never seen a saw start like that. I have three small STIHL saws and one 044 with a 36 inch bar on it. This is the saw you want EASY 2 START system is really impressive if you have never owned one. I was sold on one pull. The dealer might of had it warmed up for the show. Depending on what you are cutting, I use the MS 250. You can see it in the gas usage. Do not mess the ... read more carburetors up ! stihl saws are one of the best around I've had them for years
The problem with starting your saw could be with the gas and storage practices. I use only 92 octane gas and stihl ultra 2 cycle. Also when I put my saw away I drain whatever gas is left in the saw also I use a fuel stabilizer. The ethanol that's in the gas is a killer it absorbs moisture and can lead to corrosive internal parts. Premix one gallon of fuel and after using it up clean your saw,air filter and ajust the chain, all these procedures have helped me.

    One tough saw
We have been using STIHLl saws for 10 years. We love the durability of the MS 250. We usually buy one every year for our tree business. One of the best saws you can use.

    Not a cheap electric saw
I bought this saw to put in the camper and be able to use in campgrounds with out making the noise of the gas powered ones. I bought a cheap one, but wanted one with a little more power and features. This Stihl has it all. While I have only used it once, it has plenty of power and all the features of the gas powered ones, it's well built, made in Germany not China. While I haven't used it much yet, it will get a work out next month while we are in the UP of Michigan cutting campfire wood.

    Good Saw for the Money
P&K Equipment in Hiawatha, Iowa was a very good dealer to purchase the Ms170 from. They were very helpful, and the service dept. took the saw into their shop and made sure it was setup and running right.

a very surprised first time user
My first time using this saw was simply amazing. I had a bunch of pecan wood to work up that will eventually end up in my smoker cooker. This saw went through all of it like butter and it was so easy to handle. I really liked the idea of no more filling it with fuel and when I was done with the job I just cleaned it up, put it in its case knowing that it would be there and ready to go for the next job. I no longer go out in the woods and cut several cords of wood and my saws no longer get the ... read more use that they used to.Now I leave them sit for long periods of time with out using them and when I do its always a hassle to get the gas ones going again no matter how much care I took in putting them away. ( my other saws are not Stihl ) maybe thats the problem with the gas ones. Although I have other Stihl equipment this is my first chainsaw.and I simply love it. It has more power than you would believe for an electric. Uses the same chain thats on a gas model the automatic oiler seemed to hardly use any oil, the tool less chain adjuster, and the fact when you let off the trigger the chain stops instantly are some really good features of this saw. There is not one con I could say about this saw except maybe for the price. It is expensive but when you get this saw in your hands and start using it you wont care that you had to put out the big bucks for it. The old saying you get what you pay for stands true for this saw. Hey, its THAT GOOD!! Thanks Stihl for a simply great saw!!!!

    best saw for the size
Purchased this saw at the age of 11 years old for my first saw until i was big enough for a larger saw. I'm 16 now and i can say that this saw has been absolutely AWESOME, its cut everything I have put in front of it and never once given up on me. I cut about 4 cords of wood a year to heat my house and sense i was 11 this thing has cut all 4 cords for 5 years and probably keep it going for another 5

Awesome little saw anyone who uses it wants to buy it
I have had my 211 for 4 years now and use it for everything, because as nice as it is to have a big saw I just hate lugging it around all day. My 211 did have the oil leak but it was fixed under warranty never leaked a drop since. As for the hard starts mine starts every time no matter what but my dealer told me these steps to get it to start every time. 1-full throttle/full choke pull till it hits 2- once it hits move it to half throttle/ usually within the next two pulls With that method I ... read more have never pulled more than 5 or 6 times to start my saw hope that helps

    Cant beat the price.
Some people may not know how to store saws with caps on properly etc, this saw has not leaked ounces in storage, it runs great, cranks first few pulls (factory rich for break in) I mean come on. Actually has decent power on the stock power head with a 18" bar
