Perfect size saw for most homeowners
After looking around quite a bit, I decided to go with a stihl saw. The MS 211 C-BE seemed to be the right size to power ratio for me. I've only had it one day but I have cut up a 25 ft oak log about 16 inches wide. I also cut up alot of oak branches . I've been through 3 tankfuls of gas without a hitch. The fuel and oil caps have not been any problem but we'll see in the future. So far the start-ups have been great. So far I am very happy but I will check back in a few weeks when I get more use to judge from.

    Best chainsaw I've owned!!!
The Stihl 211 C-BE is the greatest little saw I have ever owned. The "easy2start" feature is perfect for me since I have shoulder issues. Now, I can put all my energy into cutting wood instead of fighting with a chainsaw to get it started! Also, the chain can be tightened in seconds without tools and it works flawlessly. Don't be put off by this saw's small size.... it can keep up with the big guys without tiring out the operator! I highly recommend it!

    Excellent little saw
I owned one of these saws for about 2 years. I used it as my lightweight saw in combo with a larger 60cc saw. Crazy easy to start and once the carb was adjusted (after a little break-in period) it had pretty decent power. Note: The 211 has an adjustable carb. I'll be buying one of the 211's again for sure.

Great saw at a great price
This is an outstanding saw. Starts easily and cuts very fast. It's a great value and it is very light. Our county road department uses this same model.

    Love the easy start.
I purchased the easy start technology chain saw. It always starts, no pulling my shoulder out. I am a 55 year old woman and love having my own saw I can handle and I don't have to call someone for help. Then I went back and got an easy start trimmer.

This saw is a pleasure to run.
I own 3 Stihl Chainsaws, mainly for cutting oak firewood. I use the MS 180 C-BE at least 2/3rds of the time. I run a 14 inch bar on it and it rips while limbing, cutting up branches and cutting small to medium logs. The weight to power makes it a pleasure to use and doesn't wear me out as much as my bigger saws. My 660 still gets used as needed but the 180 can do most of what's required to fill the wood shed without the workout.

    Firewood cutting
Bought this saw in 2012 have used non stop for cutting firewood for winter which I use to heat my house. Cut 5 to 6 cords a year plus limbs of trees around house and on the farm. Very powerful and cuts well have used stihl chainsaws my whole life and their is no comparison for quality and dependability. Only one issue in four years gas cap broke off but oh well easy fix simple trip to dealer and back to cutting will be buying ms 170 to have a smaller spare.

    Excellent saw
I bought the MS250 three years ago and have cut about 40 cord of wood with it. I love this saw, starts right up every time, oils the way it is supposed too. I use my saw almost every weekend with no issues at all. I see plenty of reviews where folks say these saws start hard, I am thinking they are people who don't really know how to start a chainsaw. This is a great saw with a great value.

    I love my chainsaw.
I am a 55 year old girl (at heart anyway). I love my little chainsaw. I have the small battery to keep the weight down and it lasts plenty long for the amount of work I want to do at one time. Cuts through 6" trees easily making cleanup and trimming a breeze. Thank you Stihl for making a battery operated chainsaw.

    Lightweight and quiet enough!
I just love this chainsaw, because I'm a 67 year old woman who still likes to work on my property and I need lightweight now. The only problem and maybe it's me, is that it leaks the oil out of it, after use and I have to put it on absorbent papers. My husband thinks all chain saws leak some oil from under it. Even if it isn't very full of oil. Is that just what accumulated from going out the chain? It is coming from under where I set it down. Am I supposed to empty the oil every time, somehow, ... read more or how can I avoid this? I call this my "toy". Dot

    Great Chainsaw
Purchased this as I had a couple trees and many large branches to removed from my newly purchased property. I'm not a fan of the smell of gasoline or the idea of breathing the fumes in. The saw it had the power that I needed, no emissions, and is so quiet. The running time is perfect with the Stihl AP-180. Since you're never running the saw continuously, you can get hours wroth of work in. Stick it back on the charger every time you take a break and you're good to go all day. I'm looking ... read more forward to using it for future housework as well as making it a necessary addition to my overlanding toolkit.

    Great Saw, so-so chain
I love Stihl! Every outdoor power tool I own is Stihl. I grew up using their chainsaws and would never buy anything else. That being said I bought the 170 for some quick work around the yard but am not happy with the Micro 3 chain. I wasn't looking for a big aggressive chain because I not only have to deal with small limbs and branches but this chain seems slow. Does it stay sharp? Yes but I think the smaller teeth bog down on sticky wood like wet pine unlike the larger toothed chains. I put a ... read more new bar and chain on and it cuts like butter. The powerhead is fantastic! Starts great and runs well even at idle. Overall a great product and maybe more suited to hardwoods without a lot of sap or pitch.

    Great little saw
Bought this saw to do tree trimming around house works great easy to start now it's not a big pro saw but it handles everything I put at it so far only thing I noticed is after using set it down and start again it fires right up usually first pull it when give it gas kinda sputters like most most 2 strokes do feather the trigger cleans right up. Quick cutter burns right threw silver maple like butter can't go wrong with this

    Second MS 170 Also Great!
In 2012, I wrote the first review on the MS170 as Yolod46. After four years of very good service it had reached the end of its life. I bought a new MS170 two weeks ago. It is like the first one being a strong "work horse" here on the farm and helping out at rural cemeteries.

    MS 181 C-BE
Bought this chainsaw to use around the house, trimming magnolia trees and some other trees. I had problems starting the saw when I first got it because I didn't know how to take advantage of the Easy2Start system. I took it to the dealer I bought it from and they showed me how to start it correctly. Now that I know how to start it correctly, it is very, very simple to start. You really don't have to pull hard on the rope at all. I haven't had an issue with it. Cuts through trees like butter.

    Great tool
After the demonstration of how to start and use the saw, I expected some problems to pop up like all of the other saws that I have owned. I was very surprised at the ease of starting and using the chain saw. I have shown several others how easy and dependable the saw is. Well worth the money spent.

I needed a small saw for the light cutting work, and this fits the task at hand.
My workhorse is a Farm Boss, which is used for the heavy work. The MS 181 is a great lightweight saw used for a run of small cutting tasks. This saw idles great, reeves up smooth and quick, and cuts like a knife! Yes, it is underpowered as compared to the Stihl Farm Boss, but that is why I have the Farm Boss. The MS 181 is a very welcomed addition to my overall capability, and its several pounds lighter in weight, and it does the job well. For its size, there is plenty of power. I am quite ... read more satisfied with this purchase and recommend the saw as a lightweight saw that carries the reputation of a Stihl.
