Great Chainsaw...took down 4 Ash trees with no problem
Took down 2 Ash trees one weekend and 2 more the next weekend. The saw did a great job and the chain adjuster helped make it easy. I did have an issue with the chain and the dealer replaced it. Getting the live training from the dealer and having someone to go to with questions was worth the extra couple bucks than buying a cheaper brand from the big box stores. Wish I had bought Stihl when I was younger.

The MS181 C-BE has all the features I was looking for.
I am very pleased with this saw, I turned 71 this last week, so when they say it starts like a dream and runs like a champ, I'm here to tell you it really does, and it cuts like crazy. The 5 star service I got from Ace Hardware was great, they put oil and gas in it, and took it outside and started it, gave me a full demo on the saw and then did all my paper work, I was impressed. Looking forward to using this saw as much as I can.

    Truly is an "Easy Start"
Fed up with my old chainsaw, that failed within hours of first using, despite my constant maintenance and adjustments, I decided that a Stihl was the direction to go, both from first hand experience with my neighbor's Stihl saw, AND from word of mouth. This saw has performed seamlessly, and it cut thru a 20" Live Oak tree like it was butter. It took less than an hour to buck the whole limb, which weighed several tons, and I didn't have to adjust the chain even once during it's break-in period.

    More powerful than I expected
This saw works great for cutting small trees down and trimming . Keep the chain sharp and it will cut through anything.

I like the easy to tighten chain
Over all a great running saw when it is running, however when I turn it off and try and start it 10 minutes later, it is very difficult to start back up. Is this a common problem?

Great saw at a great price
This is an outstanding saw. Starts easily and cuts very fast. It's a great value and it is very light. Our county road department uses this same model.

    awesome saw!
I purchased this saw this week with a 16inch bar, couldn't ask for a better saw. i don't cut trees daily, so this was the ideal choice. i had a large peacan limb fall out of the tree. it was up to about a foot in diameter and aprox. 20-25ft long. the saw handled flawlessly and didn't use much gas, or oil. Cut like a hot knife threw butter. if your just going to use a saw every once in awhile, then i highly recommend this one. no question, stihl makes the best saws out there.

    Excellent starter saw
This saw is amazing. It's the first chainsaw I have purchased and have cut a full cord of wood with it already no problem. Easy to use chain tensioner, gas and oil caps and very easy to clean. A little loud but no complaints. I have cut trees up to almost 3 feet in diameter no problem. Of course, the bigger the diameter, the longer it will take to cut through. But for trees about a foot in diameter, this saw cuts through them like butter. Very easy to start. Uh don't know what else to say but I ... read more highly recommend this to any homeowner who owns alot of property with forest.

    Great light saw
I needed to clear a fence line of trees. There were two trees that were 12" & 18" at the base. The rest of the fence line was made up of about 20 trees under 3" in diameter. This little saw did the job easily. It is very light and has plenty of power for small jobs. It was comfortable enough to hold overhead for a few limbs. Gas tank is a bit small, but I'd rather have a light saw. This saw paid for itself with the first job several times over vs. hiring someone. The saw starts very easily and ... read more runs as long as it has gas. Same oil mix as my FS 90R trimmer, which is great. It's a great little saw for infrequent use.

    One flaw .... Plugged oiler
Great power and overall good to gray saw ! ONE BIG FLAW !! The darn oiler gets plugged way too easy . If cutting something like red oak that's a bit moist ..... U have to remove the chain and bar and unplug the oiler every 8 CUTS or so ! Very annoying . Other than this .... This saw is tuff as nails . I've put mine through :)

This saw is lightweight and has plenty of power.
All around this is a great saw. It's lightweight yet powerful enough to fell a tree. Great for Cleaning up after the storm.

This product is excellent for most all of you brush trimming needs.
I have used my saw for everything from cutting down small trees to just trimming brush and low hanging limbs. I am very pleased with the performance of my MS170. It is light weight and compact enough that working with it is not tiring or over whelming for any user of appropriate age yet big enough that you don't feel that you are going to break it . The only draw back is that it does not have a chain tensioner the only way to adjust chain tension is to loosen the nuts holding the bar in place ... read more and adjusting the position of the bar.

I've owned this saw for a year now..I've used it clearing small fence lines and cutting small to medium trees out around the farm..even after sitting for 2 months not being used it still started within 3 pulls it's a great saw highly recommended!!

    Great Home Chainsaw
I have only used the saw to cut up one downed tree - an old apple tree with extremely hard wood. I got the 16" bar, and reached the very limits of it at the widest part of the trunk. Even with hard wood and the saw at its max cut, it breezed right through. I gave durability an excellent, although I cannot really attest to that just yet. But I have no reason to believe it won't earn that rating. And that Easy Start system is a charm!

    Great Chainsaw
I'm a novice at cutting trees and needed something to thin out the trees on my property. Many of the trees are less than 15 inches in diameter; thus, I did not need a larger chainsaw. I chose this because it's lightweight and the Easy2Start technology seemed intriguing. I also selected the dealer (Henry Co Co-Op - TN) because they are extremely knowledgeable and can perform service. The Easy2Start is a godsend. Although I've only had this chainsaw two months, there have been NO problems with ... read more starting and cutting. It does well with mid-size trees up to 15 inches. I even dropped at 21 inch tree; however, it took a lot of work. This is a perfect chainsaw for someone like me that needs a cord of firewood, or for occasional clearing. I have a torn rotator cuff on one shoulder and recovering from rotator cuff surgery on the other; yet, have been able to easily use this chainsaw. Stihl is a great brand, and the Co-Op is a superb dealer.

Excellent product-easy to start and devours wood
I purchased this product two months ago and have used it a dozen times already. The chainsaw starts with ease every time and runs smoothly. I've cut through for very large oak trees without any issues whatsoever. I sometimes wish for just a hair more power but otherwise this is sufficient. Somewhat costly product, but it sure does work. Would definitely buy again.

    Love this saw
I have run 6 tanks of gas through this saw in the short time I have owned it. I can only say good things about it. This is the first Good chain saw I have ever owned and I have owned a lot of bad ones. Makes cutting fun.
