    awesome saw!
I purchased this saw this week with a 16inch bar, couldn't ask for a better saw. i don't cut trees daily, so this was the ideal choice. i had a large peacan limb fall out of the tree. it was up to about a foot in diameter and aprox. 20-25ft long. the saw handled flawlessly and didn't use much gas, or oil. Cut like a hot knife threw butter. if your just going to use a saw every once in awhile, then i highly recommend this one. no question, stihl makes the best saws out there.

    fantastic for carving
I love this little chainsaw for carving. it takes some time to get broken in but after that it works very well. a little low on power but I guess that is because I am use to my 391 which is awesome too. all in all I would buy this saw again oh and the chain stays very sharp for a lot of cutting.

    A "David" of a saw
OK, let me say that I have an MS361 and that is one powerful saw, but can get heavy with extended use. The 171 I use primarily for limbing, but I recently bought a vacation house and took it with me last weekend. I took down and cut up some pretty thick hard wood and this saw did it (I had a sharpened chain!). Took some time when the wood was hard, but took all I could give it. If I would have had my 361 I would have used it in several instances, but the 171 did the job. It's light, relatively ... read more quiet (I always use hearing protection, chaps, gloves etc however), and easy to use.

    Great saw!!!
I bought a piece of property that was logged. I had trees laying everywhere. So I new I would be cutting a lot more then the average home owner. I bought the 211 because of size and weight. It has done great. Over the winter I cut almost every day. I was cutting an average of 5.5 days out of every week from Nov. to March. This saw never let me down. The easy start is awesome. The easy chain tensioner is great and saves a lot of time. This saw is light weight and very easy to use.

Great power. Cuts quick and clean.
I bought this after getting fed up with the 20" 50cc Poulan I wish I never bought! The Stihl cuts fast and clean. I can't believe it is only out preforms my old 50cc. The easy2start and quick chain adjustment is amazing. Don't waste your money a on any other brand. P.S. We have a lot of dead Ash trees in my area and I've noticed all the pro companies taking down trees are using Stihl...go figure.

Great product, easy to start and use
This was my first chainsaw and after reviewing online all makes and models i had originally settled onthe MS 170 Stihl, but when I arrived at the retailer he showed me the difference between the MS170 and 180 which made it an easy decsion. He showed me how to start and the ease of use when adjusting the chain. I hope it lasts a lifetime. I live on an acre lot and this is just for general tree maintenance and to take down some pines as they fade. Great product so far!

Great product - Super easy start - Gets the job done
Bought it to replace an older (15 years) Stihl chain saw that was impossible to start. New easy-start system is dynamite! When cold, takes 2-3 pulls on full choke, then 1-2 pulls on half-choke and it starts. And pull start is so easy, you have to be careful that you don't pull too hard (as I had to do with the old saw). While it's not a contractor or lumberjack saw, this one has plenty of power and size for homeowner use. It will handle up to a 12 inch tree with no problem. I love it - I wish ... read more I had bought it years ago!

    Operates with ease!!
I purchased my 180 C-BE to use around my house as well as my kids homes. I wanted a saw that be easy to start, reasons,of age of myself and when clearing bush by yourself, so starting and stopping the saw was going to be important. A slight pull on the rope a that" puppy " fires right up. This is of course, after the initial startup of the day. The saw is light so it's not hard on your back!

Good saw for limbing and small firewood
I bought an MS211 for a friend of mine and felled some birch trees to break it in for him. I liked it so much I bought one myself. Far better than the 210 that it replaces, it is lighter with more power. Some complain about the bar oil leaking, but I have not had that problem. It is an easy fix. Some people have also had a hard time starting them, but I have not had that problem (with either one). I think its an issue of tuning them right. It starts just fine cold and hot. I have used it to cut ... read more down smaller trees, limb, prune, and cut up firewood, and I have had no problems with it. It is light and nimble, and has a lot of power for a saw its size. For faster cutting, put a PS3 full chisel Picco chain in it.

    best saw for the size
Purchased this saw at the age of 11 years old for my first saw until i was big enough for a larger saw. I'm 16 now and i can say that this saw has been absolutely AWESOME, its cut everything I have put in front of it and never once given up on me. I cut about 4 cords of wood a year to heat my house and sense i was 11 this thing has cut all 4 cords for 5 years and probably keep it going for another 5

    Great Small Saw!
In my opinion this is a far superior saw over the MS170/171 and 180/181 series with a lot more power, better bar, and the extra money is worth spending. It has a better bar and chain, not the mini bar used in the smaller saws. Starts on the 1st pull after choke when cold, and on the 1st pull when warm. Lightweight at only 9-1/2 lbs and surprisingly powerful for a non-pro saw. You can use it all day without getting tired Very fuel efficient. Absolutely no bar oil leaks, extremely easy to clean ... read more and adjust chain tension, and a great all around small saw for easy handling up to 14" stock. I use high test 92 gas and Ultra. I've cut larger hardwood and let the saw do the work without pushing it, and it worked great. I have a 026 Pro and a MS362 and while this saw is not pro quality, it is very, very well made and runs without complaint; a great value for the money and a great compliment to my other saws. Spend the extra couple bucks over the mini saws and get the 211.

    Awesome chainsaw for a homeowner!
This chainsaw has plenty of power! The ease of starting and the chain adjustment is superb! I've used other chainsaws in the past, Stihl included, and this 251 C-BE is the perfect saw for a 5'5", 170 lb female with basic chainsaw experience! And if ya add the 2-1 Filing tool, your chainsaw chain will last three times as long, if you sharpen a couple times during heavy use! Plus, the customer service at the Shelley, ID location is FANTASTIC! They know there products and if they don't know the ... read more answer, they will find out and get back with you in a very timely fashion!

    Very impressed with the saw
The ms 251 cube is an excellent saw. I replaced a 20 year old Homelite 16 saw. There is no comparison to the sthil I never knew what I was missing I dropped 8 60 foot pine trees and chopped them up for removal. No problems the sthil cut through them like butter. The easy start takes some getting used to you pull and the start is slightly delayed but it is very easy to get running

The best feature is the Stihl dealer
I have used Stihl saws for many years and cut over 20 full cords of firewood each year. My local dealer closed and I had to travel 95 miles to Ward's in Dollar Bay, Michigan to buy my new 251 in February 2015. Not long after the the saw had a major mechanical issue which I am convinced was a fluke and not worth expanding upon. I returned it to my new dealer (who didn't know me from Adam) and, since it was Saturday and couldn't be serviced, he offered a replacement to used until my saw could be ... read more repaired. My point is that the most important decision in purchasing any piece of equipment should be the quality of their dealer network and in this case Ward's certainly "went over the top"! Most all of my cutting is around logging operations. This lightweight & powerful saw is perfect when stumbling through slasher piles and tree tops. I only need to use my old 038AVS for the largest of jobs. All features of this saw including starting and chain adjustment work great.

For the price you cann't buy a better saw
I bought this saw 4 years ago and have cut dozens of oak, cherry and maple. I have a 14" bar and cut everything up to 12' diam. with it and it works great and makes fast work of limb cutting and turning tops into fire wood, have a heavier saw for the big stuff.

Great light weight saw. Good value.
This is my new go to saw around the farm and woods. I have a MS291 for larger trees but the 170 takes care of the rest. It's light and easy to handle. Keep it filled with fresh premium gas and most starting issues go away. The chain oiler works fine and chain adjustment is easy. When I wear this one out I'll buy another.

One of the best saws for most projects
I bought my saw in 2005 and love it. This saw has cut up to 28" hardwood trees! As long as you know how to sharpen your saw and use it, the saw will perform without any flaws. I would recomend this saw to Anyone. Yes i have a bigger saw(660 and a 661) but the ms 170 goes eveywjere they do!
