Rated 5 out of 5 Great value Purchased this chainsaw over 3 years ago for the heavier cutting that needs to be done on our 2+ acres. Even with infrequent use, it starts up in less than 10 tries after sitting in its case for a year or more. Just had some trees pruned, and kept the branches and trunks to cut up for splitting firewood. I lightly sharpened it between each tank of gas, and it continued to cut like new through a cord and a half of wood. The vibration on this saw is the mildest I've ever used. I have carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands and this saw enabled me to cut for 15 minutes before having to stop! It was a little pricey, but delivers what Stihl claims! May 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This saw is just great It cuts thru wood like a knife thru butter lol. This is by far the best chain saw I have ever owned. And trust me I have owned alot of them over the years. April 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hard Working Saw I bought my MS271 a couple of months ago before they had it as the "Farm Boss" again on the website. I have only put around 4 tanks through it so it is still breaking in and I am starting to notice the power increase and motor smoothing out.Even during this break in it made short work of a 2ft diameter green hackberry. With a freshly sharpened blade it didn't flinch in this rock hard wood. It starts within 3 cranks every time and never fails to cut. I love the vibration reduction since it helps reduce fatigue. This is an all around great saw that fits in with the other Stihls on the farm that have been around for years. I am expecting my Stihl will last just as long. Keep making great products and making them in the USA! April 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by this saw is worth every dollar i spent anvery reliable I bought this saw almost two years ago and i love it. It is everything i expected in a stihl chainsaw. My dad has a 028 wood boss he bought about 30 years ago and it is still going strong today. I know my ms 271 will last just as long. It starts up very quickley and has plenty of power with the 20inch bar i have on it. I defintley recommand this product to any one who wants a chainsaw that will for many years to come. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK STIHL. April 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great saw all around Bought this saw to cut about 25 stumps and for fire wood and it has not disappointed.... This thing has exceptionally good power. I upgraded to the 20 inch bar and it was great.. Cut a ton of wood already and it worked like a charm. Highly recommend this saw April 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best chainsaw for the ranch! I have owned many other brands of chainsaws in the past, but I will ONLY buy Stihl from now on. The power of the MS271 is perfect for large mesquite, oak, elm, and every other wood I've come across in South Central Texas. As long as I do my part, it starts on the 5th pull every time. I've had mine for over a year now and it is the best chainsaw I've ever owned. Keep plenty of spare chains handy to make life easier. As soon as it shows the first sign of slowing down, I simply put a freshly sharpened chain on and it cuts through anything I need. The power to weight ratio is perfect. I love the anti-vibration feature...especially when cutting for long periods. The MS271 is worth every dime I spent to purchase it. I work out on a ranch where running to town to get something fixed is not really an option. I feed it Stihl premixed fuel and Stihl bar oil. I clean it after each use and it starts every time. If you need a powerful and reliable chainsaw you won't be disappointed with the MS271. April 9, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy with the purchase Bought this after doing much research and talking to some professional tree cutters.I grew up cutting wood as a weekend job but have not cut for years and started the researching products looking at all brands. Our best saw a growing up was a Stihl so when viewing reviews on online was not surprised to see Stihl as top or one of the top in everything I saw. I borrowed a neighbor's saw (not Stihl) for a few weekends and thought it was a decent machine but under powered. The Sthil was the same weight but about 40% more horsepower. Needless to say I'm happy with my purchase and my wife even tries to use it every chance she gets. April 3, 2015
