Rated 5 out of 5 by Very well thought out and designed, the saw-battery-charger-and chain, excellant. A pleasure to work with, no ethanol problems, the saw is quiet, very well made almost no vibrations, and combined with the new 1/4" 43 gauge chain the saw cuts and bores very well, with most applications the battery lasts longer than a tank of gas. I also have the option of working indoors, and in a suburban setting the neighbors love the saw too. I also like the fact that the saw is much easier to maintain, no air or gas filters,no mixing oil and gas, no spark plug or smoke during idling, no carb adjustments, and no oily mess on the muffler and saw, all I need to do when im done is blow off the chips with my compressor, wipe off the sprocket area as usual and mount a new chain. I have two MSA 160 saws, I also use standard 1/4" RMS chain. For precision pruning, firewood, storm clean-up or Carving, it's outstanding, I love my saw! October 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well made, quiet, strong I bought this saw soon after it came out and am delighted with it. I do a lot of hiking trail clean-up, cutting out windfall trees and limbs and this saw is perfect. It is small enough to fit in a medium size back pack with plenty of room left over for the usual hiking gear and light enough to carry long distances relatively easily. It can cut through a dozen or more 8" to 12" logs on a charge with power left over for dozens of smaller logs and branches. It is light enough to hold one-handed straight upwards to trim overhanging branches with ease. No need for hearing protection and so quiet it is inaudable from a hundred yards away. The price is high but this saw is a gem and it is well worth it. April 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Clean, quiet, powerful. I purchased my saw a couple of months ago, and am impressed every time I use it. It cuts as fast and for as long as my MS192T. The 1/4 inch safety chain allows for accurate, close cuts without kickback. When trimming in dense trees and brush there is no exhaust fume buildup, and at the end of the day I don't smell like gasoline. With two batteries I can cut all day with power to spare. April 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by No more grabbing the hand saw for small jobs There does not seem to be much objective user information about Stihl’s line of battery operated yard tools around on the web, I hope my review can help. I ended up purchasing the blower, chainsaw, and trimmer along with two batteries and a charger. The last two weekends I put many hours on each tool and in every case I was very impressed. The tools are so much more accessible than their gas powered brethren. I would not always pull out my gas tools for a quick use, but the battery tools are just as easy to use for two minutes as 20. The blower performed comparable to my old BG86 and the chainsaw ate through six inch limbs with ease. The trimer runs a lighter line than my old FS130, but had no issues taking on lawn. Run times all seem as advertised. Obviously the big issue is the price, but you know that going in. Yes, I’m poorer now, but I will not miss the fall ritual of draining gas nor the spring ritual of getting tools back up and running. No more two cycle mix to deal with either. I’m very happy with my purchase and would do it again. Thanks Stihl! March 31, 2013
