Rated 5 out of 5 This thing is a beast! I upgraded to the BR600 Magnum from a smaller competitor's unit based on my extreme satisfaction with my MS261 and MS362 chainsaws. I needed something more powerful to blow sticks and other debris that smaller units wouldn't handle. I maintain about three acres of lawn and use the unit for maintenance around the edges, trees, structures and on the driveway. It really is true - you get what you pay for. The BR600 is certainly not the cheapest unit on the market, or the lightest or the quietest, but what it does it does extremely well. The first time I strapped on this bad boy and hit the trigger the torque generated by the airflow literally pushed my torso to the left! Not a problem, you just need to be aware of the blowing power of this unit. In use the blower easily moved sticks, acorns, small rocks and other debris into manageable piles. I did several hours worth of raking work in a half hour of blowing time. The blower is well thought out. The on/off function returns by spring to the 'run" position. The blower idles quietly until the beast is unleashed by the large trigger with three detent "cruise control' power positions. A quick push on the handle switch locks or unlocks the detent and shuts off the power. Like all Stihl products, if you follow the starting instructions provided by the manufacturer the unit fires up quickly every time. I use, and strongly recommend, at least 89 octane or higher gas, an additive to counter the effects of ethanol #I buy aviation fuel when I can - no ethanol, about $5 per gallon in my area# and Sthil HP oil. I also store my gas in an airtight container. The fuel system in this unit is airtight as well, preventing excessive water in the fuel from the atmosphere. For occasional off-season use of my Sthil units out of storage I use the canned Stihl fuel. The blower is big and a bit heavy for hours and hours of work, but the adjustable padded harness is substantial and more than just window dressing. Just find the right spot on your back and the unit is very manageable. The air tube is also adjustable for three positions for taller or shorter people or special applications.Access to the chassis under the orange cover is by a series of screws and isn't overly convenient, but most of the stuff under the cover should be serviced by a dealer anyway. There is an inspection port for the spark arrestor so you can check for fouling to keep the unit running at full power. Using the right gas and oil should minimize any fouling. The exhaust out the back is very hot - keep the exhaust flow away from anything that could melt or burn. If you want big power then you accept that the big motor will make some exhaust heat.I am exceptionally pleased with this purchase and expect the same long life and performance that I have gotten from my other Sthil products. The big box stores can keep their "looks the same on the outside" brands - I'll take a dealer sold and serviced unit every time. August 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It works like you would expect. I keep about 1 of 10 acres maintained which Has 5 100+ year old maple trees by the road and hundreds of trees that are on the sides and back. This thing works great to keep it all under control. It moves wet leaves, grass piles and even large decorative rocks if your not carful.Bonus is this works great to manage grass fires, I burn a 1/2 acre or so each spring and it works to keep the edge of the fire were I want it. One good blast along the edge and it blows it out. Just make sure to push the burning grass into the area already burnt to avoid spreading it. August 23, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Just bought my second one because there is t anything out there better. My first one lasted only 5 years before they said it couldn't be repaired, 5 years for homeowner use is not what I call a long lasting product. They gave me my 5. Year old one back as a box full of parts they said were in repairable August 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light weight, awesome power, easy starting I was looking to replace an old push type blower, tried my friend's BR600 and was sold! This thing is light weight, easy to start, comfortable to carry on my back. And it's a ''back pack tornado". Leaf cleanup is fast, and I've used it several times to clear dry snow from mine and my neighbors walkways. Good job with this machine STIHL! August 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by BR 600 Easy to start. Quieter than most. Weight is good. Power is good. Red Max has more cfm but weighs more, vibrates more, uses more gas, and does not run as well in cold weather. Only dig on this blower is it could use a chest strap. August 17, 2015
