Rated 2 out of 5 by Okay for three years The blower was only okay. I got it as a Christmas present as a starter blower. The battery version I had just did not work well enough for me. It never quite ran right from the beginning. After a while, it started losing power when I would accelerate on the throttle, so one of my neighbors looked at it and replaced the spark arrestor screen on it. It ran better, but not perfect. Shortly after that, I found that the carburetor had gone bad on it. It should not be bad after less than three full years of use. It was, however, very light. Now my neighbor has the exact same model, just a year newer, and it runs great. Bottom line is spend the extra money and get their BG 86. It is much more reliable. February 5, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Powerhouse handheld blower for the price! Bought this handheld blower on a recommendation for my startup landscape has been a workhorse for commercial work!Always starts and never bogs down in 100+ heat or below freezing temps. If you are a homeowner this is the blower to has all the power you will ever need. For the Pro...the bg55 is a worthy backup for your backpack blower or a great blower to buy if you are starting up and on a budget.I highly recommend this blower!! Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this blower Compared this to the new bg50 and decided that the couple extra features were worth the few extra bucks. It is my understanding that this model is being phased out. Perhaps to make a bigger gap between the entry level models and the next step up.Figured I would snatch one up while I could. Rated 4 out of 5 by Blower works very good once you get it started. This blower works very well as it should. The only problem is getting it started. Sometimes it just will not start. Our dealer even put a new carb on it. No improvement. This the only Stihl product we have that has starting problems. This thing should be recalled! We have Stihl chain saws, a weed eater and a tiller. They all start good. We have bought both of our sons a Stihl weed eaters. We want to buy them blowers for Christmas, but are not sure if the other models have the same problems. December 18, 2015

Rated 3 out of 5 by Great blower, but picky. The BG55 is a great unit, but mine is very picky. Power is ok for a handheld and fuel economy is good. Be sure to follow the starting instructions to a tee. Miss 6 primes or flip the clutch too slow and you're in for a bad time.Sometimes it starts with a simple pull once it's warmed up, but sometimes not.I love all my other Stihl products, but I'm only tolerant of my bg55 its my backup's backup right now. Still brand loyal though. December 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by As usual, a great product from stihl. Won't buy any other brand. I have owned Stihl products for over 10 years with no problems. I see all of the comments about the BG 55 being hard to start. I have never had any problems. Push primer bulb a few times, on choke until it fires, choke off and start with throttle fully depressed. Mine starts no matter what the temperature, weather conditions are. I own two trimmers, chainsaw and a blower. Best products on the market for the price. I will not buy it if it's not a Stihl. Have owned other products and all are junk compared to Stihl products. December 12, 2015
