VIRGINIA BEACH , VA – STIHL Inc. recently announced that the company renewed and increased its sponsorship of the Tree Care Industry Association Foundation (TCIAF) Student Career Days for 2011, which includes the annual Student Skills Competition and is held at TCI EXPO, the world’s largest tree care industry trade show and conference. This year’s event will take place November 4 and 5in Hartford, Conn. STIHL’s expanded sponsorship will put more money toward the travel fund, allowing more students to participate.

“We at STIHL believe our partnership with TCIAF is crucial because this is the next generation of arborists and leaders in the field,” said Anita Gambill of STIHL Inc. “We are proud to support a competition that brings the most passionate and knowledgeable students in the tree care industry together to hone their skills and prepare for their future careers.”

TCIAF Student Career Days (SCD) is an annual career development event for arboriculture, urban forestry and horticulture students. Part of SCD is the Student Skills Competition which features several competition events as well as academic events, including safety gear check and knowledge exam . The SCD also includes a job and internship fair.

“As part of STIHL’s increased sponsorship, more students will have the opportunity to engage in real world application at Student Career Days,” said Tchukki Andersen, TCIA staff arborist and ISA Board Certified Master Arborist . "STIHL provides crucial learning experiences for these future arborists, which will be key for a successful career in the industry."
