How do you pronounce the name STIHL?
Our name is pronounced exactly like the metal "steel."

What is the correct oil mix for my older STIHL chain saw, trimmer, or blower?
STIHL recommends a 50:1 mix when using STIHL branded two cycle mix oil (2.6 oz. of STIHL branded oil for 1 gallon of gasoline) on all of our gasoline powered equipment.

Will a 10% (E10) blend of ethanol hurt my gas-powered STIHL product?
All STIHL gasoline powered engines can be used with up to a 10% (E10) blend of ethanol in the gasoline/engine oil mix. We also recommend that if a unit will be left unused for more than 30 days that it be stored "dry." This means emptying the fuel tank and then restarting and letting the unit run until all the fuel is consumed and the engine stops. For maximum performance and engine life expectancy we also recommend using STIHL Ultra 2-cycle engine oil with built in stabilizer.

Can you send me a calendar?
Please contact your local STIHL Dealer. Calendars are usually available in late November or early December, but supplies are limited. Note that not all STIHL Dealers carry the calendar.

I need a part for my STIHL product. Who do I contact?
Your local STIHL dealer is the only way to obtain parts for your STIHL product. STIHL normally maintains a stock of repair parts for up to 10 years after the last production of a product.

I'm from Canada, does your dealer locator work outside the United States?
This site is operated by STIHL Inc. located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The locator has only United States dealers listed. Click here to visit STIHL Canada's Web site.

Can I buy STIHL products on your Web site?
Genuine STIHL products, parts and accessories are only sold through authorized STIHL Dealers. Now you can reserve items at your local STIHL Dealer, right from your computer! STIHL has a large selection of equipment and accessories to choose from, and with STIHL Express, you can ensure all the items you want are in stock, assembled and ready to run when you arrive. To find out if your local Dealer is participating in STIHL Express, use the Dealer locator on our Web site.

You can have one mailed by going to our catalog request section, or you can view it by clicking here.

How can I get an instruction/owners manual?
Click here to download instruction/owners manuals or order it through your local STIHL dealer.

How can I get a parts list or service manual?
STIHL parts lists and service manuals are only available to our STIHL-trained technicians and Dealers. Should you have specific technical questions, contact your local STIHL Dealer or STIHL Customer Service at 1-800-GO-STIHL.

How can I register my new STIHL product?
The Dealer should register your STIHL product for you at the time of purchase.

How do I know that my chain oiler is working correctly?
A good test to determine proper oiling of the bar and chain assembly will be to lay a piece of paper or cardboard on the ground or a stump. Start the unit and place the tip of the bar approximately one foot above the paper. Apply full throttle and see if a thin line of oil appears on the paper. If this occurs, then the unit is oiling properly. If your chain saw is not operating properly, please see your local STIHL Dealer.

Why is the American flag at the bottom of the list and not at the top?
Many people type www.STIHL.com into their browser. This directs them to the worldwide site managed by our founding company in Germany, Andreas STIHL. It lists all of the countries with STIHL Web sites in alphabetical order, and that is the reason why the U.S. Web site is not listed first. Always enter www.stihlusa.com in your browser to go directly to the STIHL USA Web site.

If you have a technical question, the fastest way to get an answer is to visit your local STIHL Dealer or use our contact form.
