"It is so easy to be a spokesperson
for such a great company", said LaVoie. "I
just know I will never have a problem
and I can always count on their product
and our relationship."
When asked why she loves the sport, she
said, "It's not like any other sport. People are nice about helping you out.
If they see something wrong with your
technique, they will tell you about it
even if it means beating them."

The beginning of our season and the end
of their season is another negative when
you're playing on their field. Frozen
wood and snow for training isn't much
fun either.
I just returned from the Sydney Royal
Easter Show (Sydney, Australia) where
I was competing as an underhand chopper
on the US Women's Team of 7.
Nancy Zalewski - Beginning Underhand
Chopper
Andrea Card / Denise Ott - First Jill and Jill Team
Lindsay Daun - Single Sawyer
Mary Beth Dooley / Peg Engasser - 2nd Jill and Jill Team
Erin LaVoie - Final Underhand Chopper
I was pretty confident in the team this
year but unfortunately we had a lot going
against us and ended up in 3rd place
to two very strong teams- Australia 1st
and New Zealand 2nd. 4th went to a new
team this year, Team Canada.
The good news is - we all gained more
experience on their wood, and now have
better knowledge for our gear. We can
only get better - We will return.
On the individual events, I got dealt
a pretty rough block in the underhand
and didn't make the finals. I did however
make the finals in the Jack and Jill
Sawing, Single Sawing, and Jack and Jill
Underhand. I ended up placing 4th in
the Single which is huge for me and 1st
in the Jack and Jill Underhand with partner
Dean Campbell.
Check back after the 28th of April.
I will have attended the Delta, CO. competition
and have some more to write about.
Thank you,
Erin
