February 2009 Tree Care Industry Association’s (TCIA) Winter Management Conference 2009
I have been going to the TCI Expo since the early 90’s. They are always rewarding for me as a professional,
as an instructor, and as a person. The one meeting I had yet to venture to was the TCIA Winter Management Conference,
and this past February was my first.
I had always thought that I went to enough conferences and trade shows and I couldn’t really afford
the time away to go to another one. Boy, was I wrong. What I now know is that I can’t afford to miss it.
Why? It’s simple – the seminars are geared toward an area of the business that I have been neglecting
- management. Sure, I’ve sat in on some similar workshops at these other trade shows and such, but
I had yet to submerge myself in that mindset and dedicate a few days to learning to be a better manager
and businessman.
The one great thing that makes it easier to enjoy the classroom time here is the fact that the days are intense,
yet short. We start with a breakfast meeting and then go strong until lunch time. That’s it. The rest of the day
is yours to enjoy. Staying focused is easier in this environment, even though I was only steps from a beautiful beach
in the Bahamas.
WMC 2010 Hawaii here we come!
