STIHL Modern Manufacturing Camp 2013
Giving students an edge through real-world experience
STIHL Inc. is fostering the next generation of skilled manufacturing workers through our annual Manufacturing Technology Summer Camp. Located at STIHL Inc. headquarters in Virginia Beach, Va., this four-day program provides high school students with hands-on experience in designing and building products. During previous camps, students learned how to operate machines, construct products (made from STIHL parts), and determined the most efficient way to manufacture them. Each member of the winning team earns a scholarship of up to $1,000 from the Virginia Industry Foundation. Scholarships are funded by STIHL Inc., FESTO, ECPI University and other camp supporters. Past judges include a panel of leaders from Tidewater Community College; Regent University; Hampton University; Dream It. Do It., The Manufacturing Institute in Washington, D.C.; Old Dominion University; STIHL Inc.; Virginia Beach City Police Department; and the Virginia Manufacturers’ Association.
